Schizotypic individuals may avoid the added ambiguity involved in low situational demand settings. To determine if high schizotypy individuals prefer more structured/high situational demand social situations, 52 high schizotypy and 60 low schizotypy individuals reported their enjoyment and frequency of engaging in social situations varying in structure. Parallel reports were obtained from knowledgeable others. Group by structure interactions revealed the hypothesized pattern of reduced frequency and enjoyment ratings for low structure/demand situations by the high schizotypy participants. Parallel finds were obtained for others’ reports.
