SRP Annual Meeting
2005 Virtual Meeting for the Society for Research in Psychopathology
Tuesday, October 25, 2005 through Tuesday, October 25, 2005

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRESENTERS: Oral presentations

PLEASE NOTE: Please email us a copy of your talk by Friday, November 14th, so we can test out that your fonts and colors get preserved. We know that you might still be making changes, and that is fine-- if you make changes just bring a copy of your talk to us when you register, and we will make sure the new version is loaded on the computer. This way, though, we will know that your basic formats look good.

We will plan to use a PC through most of the day, but to have a MAC on hand as back-up. If you know that your presentation is likely to require a MAC, please let us know. Beyond the computers, we plan to provide an LCD projector, speakers, a laser pointer, and microphones. If you need something else, please let us know because we will need to make special arrangements.

Times for the talks will vary slightly; please be careful to note the time allotted in the program. Please try to allow time for questions and discussion.

We will be supplying an LCD projector as well as microphones. If you need any other type of AV equipment, including overhead, slide projector, laptop computer, or videotape equipment, please email Michael Pogue-Geile at mfpg@pitt.edu.

Poster presentations

To find your poster board, look up your number in the final program. Poster boards will be numbered consecutively.

Poster Boards are 4 feet high by 8 feet across. Pushpins will be provided to mount your poster. Font size should be large enough to be readable.

Please plan to arrive 15-30 minutes early to set up your poster. Smadar Levin award applicants should plan to be available throughout the session and may be asked to be available for 30 minutes after the poster session on Thursday night.

HOTEL INFORMATION: The 2005 meeting will be held at the Omni Collonade in Coral Gables, Florida from Thursday, October 27th through Sunday, October 30th. More details about the hotel are located at http://www.omnihotels.com/hotels/default.asp?h_id=8. Rooms are being reserved at a rate of $159 plus 15% local tax for singles, doubles, or triples until August 23rd. To make reservations, call 305-441-2600 or 1-800-400-1700 and mention the Society for Research in Psychopathology.

NEW HOTEL INFORMATION (AS OF 6 SEPT): We have also successfully negotiated rooms at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables, which is the closest hotel to the Omni, at a rate of $159. All reservations must be made individually through the Hotel's Reservation Department by calling 1-800-233-1234. To obtain the rate, mention "SOCIETY FOR RESEARCH IN PSYCHOPATHOLOGY".

HOTEL REGISTRATION

The hotel is located at 180 Aragon Avenue in the heart of the Miracle Mile, the business and restaurant section of Coral Gables. For those of you who may not have visited Coral Gables in a while, the city has undergone extensive growth and restoration. A free shuttle connects downtown Coral Gables with a new major shopping complex hosting a Nieman Marcus, a new area of town is home to countless design stores, and new restaurants seem to open every week. Beaches are about 12 miles from the hotel. Between the weather, the sights, and a great program, we look forward to seeing you all there. If you have any questions about the arrangements contact Sheri Johnson, local host, at Sjohnson@miami.edu or at 305-284-3402.

DIRECTIONS / TRAVEL INFO: The Omni is located approximately 4.5 miles south of the Miami airport; taxicabs are the easiest way to reach the location (about $20). The 37 South bus also departs from the airport roughly once every 45 minutes, with a stop about 1 block from the hotel ($1.50). There is also a (305-871-2000 , http://www.supershuttle.com/htm/cities/mia.htm $14 per person, or a $55 flat fee per van for 4-11 people). You do not need reservations.

Here are driving instructions for the Omni and for the Hyatt

FLIGHT INFORMATION: American Airlines has a hub in Miami, and they will be offering a 5% discount for SRP members flying to the meeting. The discount is also valid with Avis car rentals. Although I highly recommend flying into Miami because local transportation between other airports is difficult, the discount is available for flights to Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach Airports.

To receive the discount, call 1-800-433-1790 and provide the discount code S88H5AY. There is a $5 charge for making a reservation by phone rather than web.

EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR POSTER:
The Society for Research in Psychopathology, in cooperation with Faculty of 1000 (http://f1000.com/), invites poster presenters at this meeting to deposit their poster(s) into the new open access poster repository, F1000 Posters (http://posters.f1000.com/) to enable those who could not make the meeting to see your novel work. To deposit your poster, simply go to http://posters.f1000.com/deposit and upload your poster file. In addition, F1000's expert Faculty of 10,000 members will view these submissions to identify those they wish to select for positive evaluation in the award winning F1000 service.
